Mercedes-Benz S500 is now S550

The new Mercedes-Benz S-Class, previewed earlier this year as the new S500, will instead be known as the S550.

The numeric designation more accurately reflects the displacement of the engine, as per Mercedes tradition; the new V-8 displaces 5.5 liters and turns in 382 hp.

The new S-Class goes on sale in the U.S. in February 2006, with a V-12 version to follow.

Mercedes-Benz to continue G-Class

The Mercedes-Benz Car Group will continue production of their Mercedes-Benz G-Class beyond 2006 at Magna Steyr in Graz, Austria.

The decision to continue the production of the G-Class is not only of great economic relevance, but is of historical significance.

This classic off-roader is inseparably connected with the identity of their plant in Graz and its growth to become the largest contract assembler of automobiles worldwide.

The Mercedes-Benz G-Class has been produced in Graz since 1979. Since then, more than 185,000 vehicles manufactured. During the past 26 years, the G-Class has been permanently kept at a state-of-the-art level and, owing to its unique appearance and legendary off-road quality, has gained cult status.

The G-Class has been the foundation of our long-term and successful cooperation with DaimlerChrysler.

2006 Mercedes-Benz C-Class

The 2006 Mercedes-Benz C-Class lineup has been revised and streamlined.

Moreover, the 2006 C-Class is powered by an all-new line of V6 engines, with more horsepower and more advanced technology than before. The luxury models feature a high-tech seven-speed automatic transmission, and the C350 Luxury sedan has the classic Mercedes balance of ride quality and handling.

New engines for 2006 complement the substantial C-Class updates made just a year ago. Mercedes redesigned the C-Class interior for 2005, freshened the exterior styling and further distinguished the sport models from the standard luxury sedans. A new six-speed manual transmission greatly improved shift action.

Best among the best!

The Mercedes-Benz CLK is among the best of its class, an undulating statement of style and taste, and a design that will mellow down in style too.

The CLK320 is an excellent entry-level offering, and will assured satisfy most owners.

While the CLK500 is a superb automobile in every respect, the CLK55 AMG is strictly for performance buffs. If that’s not enough, there is the CLK55AMG which is a tad too ahead for the daily driving situations.

M-Class: utility and good looks!

The Mercedes-Benz M-Class is a fine line of SUVs.

While some 4X4s offer chunkier tires and greater ground clearance than the M-Class, and may be more capable off-road, they behave more like trucks on the highway.

The Mercedes-Benz M-Class SUVs deliver tough looks, safety, room, and utility.

Mercedes-Benz M-Class is available in two models, plus a limited-edition high-performance version.

The ML350 uses a 3.5-liter V6 engine producing 232 horsepower.

ML500 gets a 288-horsepower V8.

ML55 AMG features a hot-rod version of that V8, raising the horsepower to 342.

2006 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

The 2006 Mercedes-Benz E-Class features a more powerful standard engine, the one that comes on the most popular model. This new V6 is a welcome improvement, but it really does not change the basic character of what was already a fine automobile.

For 2006, there is a slight change in E-Class nomenclature, thanks to a change in engine size. The E350 sedan and wagon are powered by a new-generation 3.5-liter V6 that produces 20 percent more power than the previous 3.2-liter V6 (used in the E320) with no decrease in fuel mileage. The E350 is the Mercedes' first dual-overhead cam V6 and it generates 268 horsepower, compared to 221 from the 3.2-liter V6 it replaces. Yet, matched to Mercedes' high-tech, seven-speed automatic transmission, the E350 loses nothing in mileage to its less powerful predecessor.

Also new for 2006 is a supercharged E55 AMG wagon boasting 469 horsepower.
